There are <strong>many ifs and buts<\/strong>. Don\u2019t take anything for granted and check with a skilled operative for your specific needs \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mathezfreight.com\/en\/contact\/#tab2\">Contact our Brexit team<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>With the implementation of Brexit and the smart border, there has been<strong> a huge change in the customs transit process:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>A \u201cnon-Brexit\u201d customs process<\/strong>: you bring the goods, you declare them, when the goods are customs released, you go.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Here at the Channel,<\/strong> the rule is: unless all declarations are made in advance, cargo can\u2019t move.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>In this SOP, we assume you are using Mathez Freight as your trusted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mathezfreight.com\/en\/services\/customs\/\">Customs broker in France<\/a>. See below for how we can help you, <a href=\"#what\">what we do and what we won\u2019t do<\/a>. <\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Importing from Great Britain to the EU after Brexit<\/h2>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Step 1<\/span>: Get the Customs broker in Great Britain to issue an Export custom clearance:<\/h3>\n<p>British Customs require an <strong>export declaration<\/strong> to be made for all goods departing the UK through the National Export System (NES) to HM Revenue &amp; Customs (HMRC).<\/p>\n<p>If goods are of <strong>British <\/strong><strong>origin<\/strong>, in order to have <strong>null or low import duties<\/strong> in the E.U. &nbsp;your supplier must type the following sentence on the invoice and\/or the packing list:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>\u201cThe exporter of the products covered by this document (UK EORI # \u2026) declares that, except where otherwise clearly indicated, these products are of the United Kingdom preferential origin.\u201c<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Step 2<\/span>: Get your T1\/MRN in Great Britain (optional)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Ask your <strong>customs broker in Great Britain to issue a T1\/MRN<\/strong>. This will enable you to handle customs in an <strong>inner Customs office<\/strong> in the European Union (for example in Marseilles, Warsaw, or elsewhere).<br>NB: Ask us for our <strong>customs office code<\/strong> to establish the T1.<\/p>\n<p>If you can\u2019t get a T1\/MRN, we will have to sort an <strong>import customs clearance<\/strong> or <strong>issue a T1 on the European Community border<\/strong> (see below).<\/p>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Step 3<\/span>: Provide your French Customs broker (us) with all the documents<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Send us a full set of documents:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Invoice<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Packing list<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Export customs declaration<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Shipper\u2019s EORI number<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Consignee\u2019s EORI number<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Consignment note<\/strong> (also called <i>CMR\/lettre de voiture<\/i> in French) (more later)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Trailer registration plate<\/strong> (not truck\u2026 trailer only). For vans: registration plate (more later).<\/li>\n<li>If possible, <b>have your&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mathezfreight.com\/en\/blog\/hs-codes-eu\/\" target=\"_blank\">HS code<\/a>&nbsp;ready.&nbsp;<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Step 4<\/span>: We handle customs transit or customs clearance on the entry border<\/h3>\n<p>If you have no T1 on step 2, we, as a registered customs representative in France will either carry out:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0a4279;\"><strong>Clearance on the border<\/strong><\/span>:<br>Please note: <strong>we can only<\/strong> handle customs clearance on the entry border <strong><em>for full trucks<\/em><\/strong>.<br>It\u2019s <strong>quick and easy<\/strong>. The other side of this procedure is <strong>when a customs check is required<\/strong>, it can take a long time with uncontrolled costs due to congestion.
